AUSTIN, Texas - Rice junior Scott Filip will enter Thursday's decathlon in second place after recording 4252 points on Wednesday at the 90th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, presented by Spectrum.

Filip, from Bloomingdale, Ill., posted three top-three finishes on Wednesday and sits behind only Texas A&M's Lindon Victor (4516 points). Filip placed second in both the long jump (7.41m) and the 400m (48.20) while finishing third in the 100m (10.77).

The former All-American set a personal best in the shot put with a distance of 13.94m to place fifth overall (fourth collegiately) while also finishing fifth in the high jump (2.00m).

The decathlon will resume on Thursday beginning at 10 a.m. with the 110m hurdles. Other Owls who are set to compete on Thursday include Austin Riddle and Uche Ugwunze in the hammer throw (2 p.m.) and Erik Maher in the javelin (2:15 p.m.).
