Houston - The Rice Owls had several nice performances on the final day of the 28th Annual Victor Lopez Classic at the Rice Track Stadium.

Owl triple jumper Ugo Nduaguba won the event with a mark of 15.51m/50-10.75, while teammate John Berens was sixth (14.00m/45-11.25)

John Welch placed 13th in the 100m with a time of 11.11. Sophomore Dan Sloat finished fourth in the 800m with a time of 1:53.35.

In the 110m hurdles, Philip Adam was 10th with a time of 15.50 and Lee Johnson was 13th (15.97). Running in the 400m hurdles, Collin Shurbet led the Owls with a fifth place time of 53.36, while Johnson was 14th (56.32).

Freshman Ikechi Nnamani finished was the first collegian in placing second in the high jump at 2.05m/6-8.75. Tyler Wiest was ninth at 2.00m/6-6.75. The event was won by Cedric Norman who tied the meet record at 2.20m/7-2.5.

The Owls went 4-5 in the pole vault with Shea Kearney and Alex Hsu each clearing 4.70m/15-5. Nnamani also placed seventh in the long jump (6.82m/22-4.5).

In the shot put, Clay Baker and Alex Zinchenko placed third and fifth respectively. Baker posted a mark of 15.92m/52-2.75, while Zincheno went 15.66m/51-4.5. Baker was also third in the discus at 49.17m/161-4.
