Houston - The Rice men's track and field squad placed sixth at the 2011 Conference USA Indoor Championship held at the University of Houston's Yeoman Fieldhouse. The Owls concluded the two-day event with 76.5 points. Houston captured the team title with 172 points, while Tulsa was second with 107 points.

"I am really proud of our team," commented Owl head coach Jon Warren. "Practically our entire team performed with season-best marks and times of the indoor season. Clayton (Chaney) had a great meet with a solid performance in the heptathlon, plus he ran his guts out to place fifth in the 60m hurdles. I am really excited to see him in the upcoming outdoor season. Dan Sloat was ranked fourth coming into the 800m and he performed admirably to place third."
