COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Rice Owls men's track and field team jumped out to an early lead at the Charlie Thomas Invitational by placing three runners in the top seven of the 5000m.
Junior Marco Ruiz (3rd-14:44.96) and sophomore Imran Bell (4th-14:47.15) both set PR's while redshirt freshman Steve Booker placed sixth overall with a finish of 14:54.49 in his first indoor race.
Rice also placed fifth in the distance medley relay. Competition picks back up on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
The Owls earned 20 team points to take an early lead over Clemson, South Plains, Texas A&M and UTEP.
