Men's Track Sweeps The Mile At UH
Owls Return To UH For Indoor Meet On Jan. 25

HOUSTON-Rice's men's track team swept the podium in the mile run, and took five out of the top six spots, to highlight a strong performance at the Leonard Hilton Invitational on the campus of the University of Houston.
"The team did very well, overall," said Rice head coach Jon Warren. "The team had large improvements in this meet and is moving in the direction we want to move."
Harry Sagel won the mile with a time of 4:19.54, coming in just 21 hundredths of a second of teammate Alex Weinheimer, who was only two-hundredths of a second faster than Travis Roberts, who posted a 4:19.77. John Cavallo came in fifth with a time of 4:21.35, and James llamas came in fifth with a time of 4:25.11.
Alex Zinchenko finished second in the shot put with a throw of 16.61 meters.
The Owls finished second in the distance medley, with Weinheimer, Donte Moore, Sagel and Roberts running for the Owls.
Clayton Chaney posted a fine all-around performance led with a high jump of 2.00 meters. He posted a 7.15 second mark in the 60 m semifinal and a shot put mark of 13.12 meters.
The Owls return to action at the Houston Indoor Invitational at the UH Athletics/Alumni Center, which runs from Jan. 25-26.
