Tommy Bennett and the doubles team of David Warren and Zachary Yablon shook of shaky starts to grind out first day victories in the main draw of the Turkish Airlines $15,000 Futures of Houston, which is being held at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium on the campus of Rice University.
Bennett advanced to the round of 16 in singles with a three-set victory over Bernard Wezeman of the Netherlands. Weseman raced to 6-2 win in the first set, but Bennett evened the match by winning a tie breaker in the second set then captured the match with a 6-4 win in the third.
