Rice senior Jonathan Chang, who posted a 10-10 mark in his first year of playing at the top of the Owls' singles lineup, has been named to the 2013 All Conference USA Singles second team in voting by league coaches.
This is the second time Chang has earned a spot on C-USA's singles second team, also earning a spot in 2011.
Chang clinched the Owls win over their highest ranked opponent when he defeated #33 Oregon's 6-8 Jeff Mullen 6-4, 7-5 and was 5-2 in three-set matches and had two others unfinished in which he was leading.
In addition to his singles efforts, he combined with Leif Berger for a 10-5 mark in doubles, with most of that action coming at the third spot, before moving up to play second doubles at the C-USA Championship. Chang and Berger were 1-0 at C-USA, defeating Rodrigo Rappaccioli and Alex Van Cott 8-0 to the Owls off to a quick start in a 4-3 upset win to move into the semifinals.
