Janglin and Rutledge Capture Third at Rice Invite

Day Two Results

Eric Rutledge and Oscar Janglin outlasted Francois and Okkie Kellerman of Texas A&M Corpus Christi in a tiebreaker to capture the third place match in the Blue Doubles Fight of the Rice Fall Invitational at the George R. Brown Tennis Center on Saturday.

Rutledge and Janglin opened doubles action on Saturday morning by dropping an 8-5 decision to Texas Tech's Jackson Cobb and Matheus Leite in the semifinal, but rebounded in their second match to finish the weekend with a 2-1 mark.

Both players dropped three set matches in singles on Saturday.

Rutledge and Tulane's Tim Ruetzel battled through a pair of tiebreak sets after Ruetzel took the first set 6-1, with Ruetzel prevailing 6-1,6-7(4),7-6(6).

Janglin was edged by TAMUCC's William Mottet 4-6,6-4,6-4.

Play concludes at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
