The TCU Men's tennis team fought off the loss of the doubles point to win four of six singles matches and down Rice 4-3 at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium on Sunday.
The 68th ranked Horned Frogs (7-3) used consecutive wins on courts 2-5 to clinch the match, while #56 Rice (2-6) used wins by Jonathan Chang on the stadium court and freshman Gustavo Gonzalez on court 6 to close the final tally to 4-3.
Rice started the match quickly. Freshmen Tommy Bennett and Adam Gustafsson continued their strong play at No. 1 doubles, downing TCU's Nick Chappell and Will Stein, 8-3. Chang and Leif Berger then clinched the first point of the day with an 8-5 win over Arnau Dachs and Orlando Superlano.
But TCU shook off the early setback by winning 36 of 43 games on courts 2-5 to clinch the match.
The Owls will be back on the Jake Hess Stadium courts on Saturday when they host Louisiana-Lafayette at noon.
