Rice Golf Team Earns National Academic Honor From College Coaches' Association
GCAA Announces 2012 Team Academic Awards presented by Farmers Insurance

NORMAN, Okla. - The Rice golfers earned All-Academic Team honors for the 2011-2012 season, the national coaches association announced on Wednesday (August 1).
The annual academic honors for men's golf programs is sponsored by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and presented by Farmers Insurance. To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors, a college or university must submit the grade point averages for each player on its official roster and have maintained a 3.00 cumulative GPA for the fall and spring semesters. A total of 124 teams submitted GPAs of 3.00 or higher to earn All-Academic Team recognition.
Under the direction of head coach Justin Emil, nine Owls on Rice's 2011-2012 roster combined to maintain a 3.183 grade point average. Rice was one of six schools from the state of Texas, and one of four from Conference USA, to be selected as a GCAA All-Academic Team. DePaul University posted Division I's highest team GPA at 3.69.
