Trio of Golfers to Participate in Players Amateur

HOUSTON, Texas — Golfers Jay Burlison, Kevin Reilly and Will Voetsch will participate in the 17th annual Players Amateur, played July 8-11 at the Berkeley Hall Club in Hilton Head, S.C.

The winner of the event earns a sponsor’s exemption into the 2017 RBC Heritage.

Voetsch was second on the squad last year in stroke average with 74.06 strokes per round, earning Conference USA All-Freshman Team honors. He had one top ten and five top 20 finishes and led the team with 10 rounds of par or better.

Reilly was fourth on the team with a 75.27 stroke average. The Oviedo, Fla., native had one top five, two top 10 and three top 20 finishes.

Burlison averaged 77.31 strokes per round and had his best finish at the President’s Day Challenge, tying for second-place.

Past champions of the Players Amateur include PGA Tour members Ben Curtis, Bill Haas, Camilo Villegas, Ricky Fowler and Bud Cauley.
