In the coming week, Rice golf will tackle two distinctly different courses as the team travels to Louisiana and later to South Texas.
The Owls begin the week on Sunday with the opening round of the 54-hole Argent Financial Classic hosted by Louisiana Tech at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La. The third-annual event formerly called the Bulldog Classic will be played over three days instead of the typical two-day format most collegiate tournaments utilize.
The tournament features nine teams including Conference USA rival Southern Miss. Also competing in the tournament will be Jacksonville State, host Louisiana Tech, LSU, Middle Tennessee, Missouri State, UALR and UTSA.
The tournament continues through Tuesday with 18 holes slated to be played each day.
The Owls will be competing in a tournament for the first time since playing host to the 12th Annual Rice Intercollegiate back on Feb. 20-21.
After wrapping up play at the Argent Financial Classic, the Owls will travel to the 61st Border Olympics in Laredo March 16-17. Last season, the Owls' best finish came at the Border Olympics as the team posted a fourth-place finish.
