Santiago, Chile — Rice senior Mario Carmona is just two strokes back of the lead heading into the final round of the Latin America Amateur Championship, played at Prince of Wales Country Club in Santiago, Chile.
Carmona shot a one-under par 70 to give him a 54-hole score of 211 to sit in a tie for sixth-place at two-under par. He is one of just 12 players under par.
Arkansas senior Alvaro Ortiz holds the lead at four-under par with four players tied for second at three-under par.
The final round begins tomorrow with Carmona teeing off at 5:35 a.m. CT. The winner gets an invitation to the 2018 Masters, an exemption into the Amateur Championship and an exemption into the U.S. Amateur Championship.
