Carmona Tied for Fourth at Latin America Amateur

Santiago, Chile — Rice senior Mario Carmona carded a two-under par 69 to sit in a five-way tie for fourth-place tie at the Latin America Amateur Championship, played at Prince of Wales Country Club in Santiago, Chile.

Carmona fired five birdies on the day. Mark Montenegro, Toto Gana (Lynn University) and Pablo Torres (Jacksonville State) are tied for the lead at three-under par.

Round two begins tomorrow with Carmona teeing off at 9:15 a.m. CT.

Of the 105 players in the tournament, the top 50 after 36-holes will make the cut.
