BATON ROUGE, La. – Rice University men’s golf stands in 12th place heading into Sunday’s final round at the David Toms Intercollegiate at LSU’s University Club. The Owls notched a 303-306—609 (+33) in Saturday’s first two rounds.
Assessing his team's play on Saturday, head coach Justin Emil said, "We let a tough golf course get the best of us today. Tomorrow the weather conditions will be a little tougher and that's a great opportunity for us to show up and beat some teams."
Freshman Kevin Reilly leads the squad in 18th place overall at 73-74—147 (+3).
Southeastern Louisiana leads the field with a 570 (-6), a solid 14 strokes ahead of Louisiana-Lafayette. SELA’s Eamon Bradley leads all individuals with a 140 (-4).
The Owls are just one stroke behind 11th-place Lamar, two back of league rival Middle Tennessee in 10th and three strokes behind ninth-place South Alabama heading into the final 18 holes.
Sunday’s final round tees off with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
