THE WOODLANDS - Rice concluded its final round of competition heading into the Conference USA Championship later this month as the Owls shot a 309 final-round score Tuesday at The Woodlands All-American Intercollegiate.
With Tuesday's play, Rice closed out the tournament with a three-round score of 907 (301-297-309) to finish in 15th place at the University of Houston-hosted event played at The Woodlands Country Club.
After beginning the day with a two-round score of 156, junior Brock Wilson's 75 was the Owls' low score for the day. Rice had three freshmen playing in the tournament and the trio was the team's top three players on Monday but all three would struggle on Tuesday.
Despite a final round 79, freshman Tommy Economou was the Owls' top finisher for the tournament with a three-round 226 score (+10).
The Owls will now turn their attention to the Conference USA Championship which returns to the Texarkana Country Club and will be played April 22-24.
No. 10 Arkansas fired a final round 285 on Tuesday to hold off North Texas by one stroke for the team title at The Woodlands All-American Intercollegiate. The Razorbacks finished with a 23-under par 841 for the tournament. UNT had a three-round 842 team score while Texas A&M shot an 845 to finish third.
Texas A&M's Geoff Shaw fired a final round 69 to card a three-round score of 205 (-11) and win the individual title by two strokes over North Texas' Curtis Donahoe. Arkansas' Thomas Sorensen, Sebastian Cappelen and Kolton Crawford all finished with 210, three-round scores to tie for third.
