CHOUDRANT, La. - Rice's Jeff Wibawa came back from a slow start during the final round at the Argent Financial Classic to fire a one-under par 71 to finish in a tie for 13th at the Louisiana Tech-hosted event.
Wibawa finished with an even par 216 for the 54-hole tournament. Starting on the back nine, the sophomore birdied No. 16, No. 17 and No. 18 to get back to even par. He later birdied back-to-back holes on the front nine.
The Owls shot a 299 team score on Tuesday and finished ninth with a 909 final score.
Behind Wibawa, Rice freshman Tommy Economou tied for 35th at the tournament. Economou shot a 75 on Tuesday to finish with a three-round 226 score (+10).
Middle Tennessee's Hunter Green fired a final round 66 to capture individual medalist honors by one stroke. Green began the day in a tie for 11th, one stroke over par before his six-under final round.
Green finished ahead of second-round leader Smylie Kaufman of LSU and Middle Tennessee's Brad Simons.
Louisiana Tech could not make up any ground on second-round leader LSU and the Tigers claimed the team title with a three-round score of 860 (-4). Louisiana Tech finished second with an 867 (+3).
