Meissner Leads Owls Heading into Final Round of Querencia Cabo Intercollegiate

Cabo, Mexico — Senior Mitchell Meissner fired his second straight 70 to sit in an eighth-place tie heading into the final round of the Querencia Cabo Intercollegiate, played at the par-71, 6,898-yard Los Cabos Querencia.

Meissner is two-under par with a season-best 36-hole score of 140. The 70 is his fourth straight round of par or better, his eighth of the season and the 31st of his career.

Rice shot nine-over par to sit 13-over and tied for ninth-place with No. 45 Ole Miss. No. 1 Oklahoma State leads the tournament at 10-under par, one stroke in front of No. 13 California. Oklahoma State’s Matthew Wolff and Cal’s Colin Morikawa are tied for the individual lead at nine-under par, one stroke in front of Vanderbilt’s Theo Humphrey.

“The wind came up today and made things a little more challenging,” said head coach Justin Emil. “A solid round tomorrow will go a long way.”

Junior Grant Rogers fired a career-best 70 to put him four-over par in a 33rd-place tie. The 70 is his second round of par or better this year and the fourth of his career.

Freshman Jake Benson is tied for 49th-place at six-over par after posting an 80. Freshman Rishi Kejriwal and senior Mario Carmona are tied for 61st-place at 10-over par. Kejriwal posted a 75 and Carmona shot a 78.

The final round begins tomorrow at 9 a.m. CT. Rice will be paired with student-athletes from Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and USF, teeing off from holes 10 through 14.
