Men's Golf Boasts Solid Second Round At USF Invite
Owls have a chance to move up on Tuesday

DADE CITY, Fla. – Rice University men’s golf put together a consistent second round at the USF Invitational on Monday to finish the day in a tie with Troy for 10th place at 300-301—601 (+25) at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club.
The Owls rank one stroke behind ninth-place Louisville and a mere five strokes behind Kennesaw State for eighth place with 18 holes to play.
Landon Michelson leads the Owls through 36 holes with a 73-75—148 (+4), tied for 26th place. The junior’s consistent round included 13 pars and a pair of birdies.
Tommy Economou carded his second eagle at the event on Monday and added a 77 to his first round 72, placing him 32nd with a 149 (+5).
Junior Jeff Wibawa carved six strokes off his first round score to move up into a tie for 37th at 78-72—150 (+6). After sinking just one birdie on Sunday, he knocked in five in the second round.
Brock Wilson fired three birdies of his own en route to a 77-78—155 (+11) through 36 holes, good for 67th place in the strong field.
Freshman James Lee shook off a frustrating opening round, and like Wibawa, knocked six strokes off his score on Monday to move up to 85th place. He holds an 83-77—160 (+16) with one round remaining.
NC State leads the 17-team field with a 567 (-9), three strokes ahead of South Carolina. Florida State ranks a distant third with a 579 (+3) through two rounds.
NC State’s Albin Choi has gained a two-stroke lead for the individual medal with a second-straight round of 68 (-4).
Tuesday’s final round opens play at 8 a.m. ET, with the Owls teeing off on the 10th hole at 8:50.
