Rice took a week off from conference action and bulled to a eason-high 409 yards on the ground en route to a 45-19 win over New Mexico State at Aggie Memorial Stadium.
Charles Ross showed he was fully recovered from his injury that had held him out of two games, blasting through the Aggies for a career-high 167 yards and a score on 26 carries. .
Taylor McHargue added 90 yards and three touchdowns on the ground to accompany his 89 passing yards on 8-of-14 attempts. He connected with Jordan Taylor for a 17-yard touchdown strike in the second quarter to give the visitors a 28-12 cushion at the half.
Dennis Parks matched a career high with three catches and led Rice with 51 receiving yards on the night.
Defensively, James Radcliffe made seven tackles, while Phillip Gaines and Austin Laudenslager each hauled in an interception.
Rice posted 26 first downs and amassed 515 yards of total offense (6.3 yards per play) on the night. The Owls held the Aggies (0-7) to 328 yards of offense.
Chris Boswell tacked on a 50-yard kick in the game. It was the 13th in his career of 50 yards or more.
Driphus Jackson added a fifth rushing score for the Owls on a four-yard scamper late in the game.
