With two weeks remaining before kickoff, Rice ticket sales for the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl are nearing the 4,000 mark. At the end of business on Friday, Owls fans have purchased 3,649 tickets through the Owls Ticket Office for the matchup between Rice and Air Force which will be played on December 29 at Amon Carter Stadium in Ft. Worth.
"The feedback I have received from the Armed Forces Bowl is that they are very excited how the Rice nation has embraced the bowl game and our ticket sales efforts up to now," Rice Director of Athletics Rick Greenspan said. "When you look around the country, our nearly 4,000 tickets sold at this time is impressive for an institution of our size. I am confident that our fans who attend the game will have a wonderful time in Ft. Worth and our University will be well represented by our fans. I know our student-athletes will very much appreciate the support on December 29."
Daily updates on ticket sales will be available on RiceOwls.com along with links for fans to purchase tickets. Owl fans who cannot attend are able to donate purchased tickets from the Rice allocation that will be distributed to members of the Armed Forces in Ft. Worth area.
With finals now completed, the Owls will return to the practice field on Monday for the first of four consecutive days of preparations at Rice Stadium. They will take a break from December 21-24 to celebrate the Christmas holiday. The team will travel to Ft. Worth on Christmas afternoon and open their final bowl practices on December 26.
