HOUSTON - Jordan Myers, Aaron Cephus and Austin Trammell were honored by Conference USA head coaches as members of the 2017 C-USA All-Freshman football team. The three selections are the third-most in the conference behind Old Dominion and Southern Miss, who had four apiece. Myers made the team as a tight end. He averaged 10.8 yards per catch while also averaging 4.7 yards per rush, scoring his lone touchdown against UTEP.
Cephus had a record-breaking year at wide receiver. He led the team and set a new Rice freshman mark with 622 receiving yards and tied Jarett Dillard’s freshman record with five touchdown receptions. He also led the conference with 24.9 yards per catch and is second nationally with six 50-plus plays.
Trammel was named to the team as a punt returner in addition to earning C-USA All-Conference honors at the same position. He averaged 7.8 yards per return, the highest mark for an Owl since 2011 when Mario Hull averaged 10.2. His 35-yard effort vs. Army was the longest by an Owl since 2010.
