Chris Boswell's nine points, including his 13th career field goal from 50 yards or longer was enough to earn him Conference USA's Special Teams Player of the Week in a vote of media who cover the conference.
Boswell converted all six PATs in addition to booting a 50 yard field goal in Rice's 45-19 win over New Mexico State in Las Cruces on Saturday night. Boswell's field goal was his 61st career field goal, which ranks him sixth in C-USA history, one behind Jonathan Ruffin of Cincinnati (1998-02), and his 10th of the season, making him the first Rice kicker to kick at least 10 field goals in four seasons.
He nailed all eight kickoffs through the end zone to prevent any Aggie returns. Boswell leads C-USA with 32 touchbacks on 40 kickoffs and he has held opponents to an average starting spot of their own 23 yard line.
This is the fifth career Player of the Week honor for Boswell and the second this season.
