Rice will open the second half of the 2014 football schedule with an 11 a.m. kickoff when the Owls host the Mean Green of North Texas on Saturday, October 25. The game will be broadcast nationally by FSN.
The Owls enter an open week on the strength of a three-game winning streak, evening their season record at 3-3 with a 41-21 win over Army last Saturday. They are 1-1 in C-USA play and the North Texas game opens a stretch run of six conference tilts to close out the 2014 regular season.
In recognition of the Owl's three-game winning streak, Rice Athletics is offering a limited time ticket special. Any fan who purchases two tickets to the North Texas game before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, will receive a third ticket at no additional charge. To take advantage of this offer, call 713-522-OWLS or email email@example.com.
This will be the fifth meeting between the two schools, with the series split at two wins each. Three of the first four matchups were as nonconference foes. North Texas won the inaugural meeting, 33-17 in 1998 at Rice Stadium. The Owls downed the Mean Green 77-20 in 2008 at Rice Stadium and 33-32 in Denton in 2010. North Texas won the first meeting of the two as C-USA members, 28-16 last year in Denton.
