Voting Open Now Until Oct. 7 at www.Facebook.com/BestOfCollegeFootball
[Sept. 30, 2013] CHICAGO - Rice senior kicker Chris Boswell's onside kick against Houston Sept. 21 is nominated for the GEICO Play of the Year, Intersport announced today. Each week, fans vote for the GEICO Play of the Year and the winner will be announced on GEICO Best of College Football 2013 on CBS Nov. 29 at 1:30 p.m. ET.
Each week for eight weeks, four incredible college football plays will be nominated as the Play of the Year on the GEICO Best of College Football Facebook page. The eight weekly winners will then faceoff in a week of finals voting from November 4 through 11 to determine the 2013 GEICO Play of the Year.
Late in the fourth quarter with the Owls in onside kick formation trailing 31-26, Boswell deceived the Cougars by faking the kick to the left and rolling it low on the ground to the right. Rice's Paul Porras was there to jump on the loose ball, giving the Owls one last crack at the endzone.
Boswell's onside kick is competing against three other plays from week four, including a blocked punt from North Texas' Marcus Trice, a blocked field goal return for touchdown by Muhlenberg's Michael Long and an 83-yard punt return for touchdown by Iowa's Kevonte Martin-Manley.
To watch and vote for Boswell or any of the other week four highlight plays, visit www.facebook.com/BestofCollegeFootball. Fans can vote once a day. Week four voting opened today and ends Monday, Oct. 7, at 11:59 a.m. CT.
