Former University of Miami quarterback Taylor Cook completed the process of transferring to Rice University by attending his first classes on Friday morning and will join the Owls football team. Per NCAA rules, he will sit out the 2009 season and will be eligible to play for the Owls as a sophomore in 2010.

Cook signed with Miami in 2008 after leading Rice Consolidated High School to the Class 2A state semifinals in 2007. He threw for 1,598 yards and 19 touchdowns as a senior, earning All State honors, and earned second-team All State honors as a punter as well, averaging 42.23 yards per kick. He was ranked as the #37 quarterback prospect by Rivals.com and as the #9 quarterback (#108 player overall) by Scout.com.
