Rice tight end Luke Willson is one of 312 seniors and top NFL draft prospects from 114 different schools who have been named The Senior Bowl's first ever "Watch List" which was released on Thursday.

The top 100 seniors in the country will be invited to participate in the 2013 Senior Bowl, set for Saturday, January 26th in Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Appearing on the Watch List is not a requirement for a player to earn an invitation to the Senior Bowl. Willson is one of 10 Conference USA players who were named to the initial list.

"The Senior Bowl is very pleased to announce our first-ever `official' Watch List," Senior Bowl Executive Director Phil Savage said. "We want both college and pro football fans to enjoy tracking the players on our list as they begin their journey towards the Senior Bowl and the 2013 NFL Draft. We have included prospects from almost every level of the college game and look forward to monitoring their progress throughout the upcoming season."

Willson is a consensus preseason All-CUSA selection and is a repeat member of the Mackey Award Watch list.

Last season he was a second-team All C-USA selection by Phil Steele after finishing second on the team with 313 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He was tabbed by Steele as a preseason All C-USA pick this year and was also named to Dave Campbell's Texas Football's All-Texas College preseason team. He spent the first part of this past summer participating in the Toronto Blue Jays extended spring training camp after signing with the club as a non-drafted free agent last August. While he was with the Blue Jays, he was drafted by the Toronto Argos in the fourth round of the CFL Draft.

Willson and his Rice teammates will help usher in the 2012 season of college football when they host UCLA at Rice Stadium on Thursday, August 30. Kickoff is set for 6:30 and the game will be broadcast nationally by CBS Sports Network.
