HOUSTON--The Rice football team completed its second scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday, practicing for two hours at Rice Stadium.
The offense scored seven times, with four running backs contributing six touchdowns, while the passing game added a score of its own.
The team spent the first half hour working on its red-zone offense before getting work in starting off from the goal line. It closed the scrimmage by starting from the 30-yard line.
Austin Walter led the rushing attack, carrying 13 times for 115 yards, while adding scoring runs of 53, 50 and 12 yards. Samuel Stewart ran 10 times for 110 yards and a score of 66 yards. Emmanuel Esukpa ran four times for 75 yards, including a 53 yard score. Tyler Stehling also added an eight yard touchdown run.
Stehling passed for 38 yards on 2-of-4 completions. Nate German was 1-of-3 for 16 yards and J.T. Granato was 1-3 for four yards. Driphus Jackson threw the only touchdown pass, hitting Lance Wright for 18 yards on his only attempt.
The team will take tomorrow off before returning to the practice field on Monday.
