HOUSTON--The Rice football team completed its first scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday practicing for two hours at Rice Stadium.
The offense scored five times, with three quarterbacks contributing four touchdowns, while the rushing attack added a score of its own.
Driphus Jackson led the quarterbacks, going 6-of-8 for 127 yards, including touchdowns of 64 and nine yards. He also added two rushes for 20 yards. Nate German was 5-of-10 for 84 yards, including a 35 yard touchdown. T.J. Granato was 2-of-5 for 57 yards and a touchdown, and Tyler Stehling was 3-of-7 for 39 yards.
Darik Dillard led the rushing attack, taking the ball five times for 33 yards. The junior also scored on an eight-yard rush. Jowan Davis ran five times for 24 yards, while Austin Walter ran a team-high seven times for 18 yards. Samuel Stewart ran five times for two yards, while German, Stehling and Emmanuel Esukpa each ran once apiece.
Cameron Decell had two catches for a team-high 77 yards. Connor Cella also had two catches for 72 yards, including a 64-yard touchdown grab. Trevor Long had two receptions for 31 yards while Parker Smith had two catches for 18 yards. Davis, Robby Wells and Jesse Hudak each caught a touchdown from nine, 35 and 14-yards, respectively. Stewart, Walter, Darrion Pollard, Luke Turner and Cole Hunt each had a reception apiece.
The team will take tomorrow off before returning to the practice field on Monday.
