Callahan named to 2012 CFPA Defensive Back Trophy Watch List

July 9, 2012

Rice sophomore cornerback Bryce Callahan has earned a spot on the 2012 CFPA Defensive Back Trophy Watch List, as announced by the College Football Performance Awards.

The redshirt sophomore earned Freshman All America by Sporting News and last season after leading all FBS freshmen, as well as Conference USA, with six interceptions and finishing second with 15 passes defended. Overall, he ranked sixth nationally with his six picks and 14th in passes defended. All of his interceptions came in the last nine games after his playing role expanded due an injury to Philip Gaines. His six interceptions were the most for an Owl since Dan Dawson matched the school record of seven in 2000.
