Rice IMG Sports Marketing, the multimedia rights partner for Rice Athletics and an IMG College property, and GOW Communications today announced that 1560 The Game (KGOW) in Houston will become the home for Rice Owls' football and men's basketball radio broadcasts for the next four seasons.
The agreement will make Houston's only locally-owned, independent sports station the radio flagship for Rice Athletics for live programming as well as on-air and on-site promotional initiatives.
In addition to being the home of live Rice broadcasts for the next four years, 1560 The Game will also host a weekly one-hour show on Mondays from 7-8 p.m. that will focus on Rice Athletics. The show will kick off with the start of football season and run through the baseball season. Due to existing contractual obligations with the network, a number of 2011 Owls football games will shift to KCOH (1430 am) to ensure all games are broadcast.

Rice will open its 100th season of college football on September 3 when the Owls travel to Austin to face the Texas Longhorns. The home schedule kicks off the following week when Rice hosts Purdue at 2:30 p.m. in a game that will be televised nationally by CBS Sports Network.
