The Rice Owls will open their 2017 home football schedule under the lights of Rice Stadium on September they face off against FIU at 6:30 p.m. to open a five-game home slate that features two night games, two in the afternoon and one noon kickoff.
Game times were confirmed as part of Conference USA’ s release of its preliminary 2017 television broadcast schedule on Wednesday.
The Owls will welcome Army back to Rice Stadium at 5:30 on October 7 in a game that will be carried nationally by beIN Sports. The Owls open the 2017 season on ESPN when they face Stanford in the Sydney Cup in Sydney, Australia on August 26 and will make three appearances on ESPN3 (at Houston, at ODU, vs. North Texas) with additional broadcast assignments pending.
Rice will celebrate a pair of annual events when they host a pair of C-USA rivals at 2:30. The Owls will welcome Louisiana Tech as part of Families Weekend on October 28 and celebrate Homecoming on November 11 vs. Southern Miss. The 2017 home slate concludes when Rice hosts North Texas in a noon kickoff on November 25.

National broadcasts of Conference USA games will be carried on traditional linear television this season on ESPN Networks, CBS Sports Network, Stadium (formerly ASN and Campus Insiders) and beIN SPORTS. The majority of these exposures will take place on Saturday, with select Friday night telecasts also being featured.
Additionally, there will be a significant number of games that will be made available through streaming and through social media entities such as Twitter and Facebook Live.
beIN SPORTS makes its 2017 Conference USA debut on September 9 by showing FIU’s home opener against Alcorn State, the first of 10 Saturday evening games on the network.
ESPN3 will be a prominent entity to watch C-USA Football on, with 10 conference matchups on the initial schedule, with more to be added. Five non-conference games in September will also be shown on ESPN3.
The 2017 C-USA Championship game on Saturday, Dec. 2 is scheduled to air on either ESPN or ESPN 2. It marks the 13th-straight year that the C-USA Championship will air on the ESPN Networks. ESPN is also scheduled to carry all six of C-USA’s bowl games in which it has a guaranteed selection.
