John Syptak, a two-time all conference selection while a defensive end at Rice, was credited with a pair of tackles, including a sack, and forced a fumble to help lead the Frankfort Galaxy to a 30-14 win over Amsterdam last weekend.
Syptak who was a member of the New Orleans Saints practice squad for the first part of the 2006 season, signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in March, who allocated him to the Galaxy, the defending champions of NFL Europe. He is one of 13 C-USA products playing in the league, which is entering its 15th season.

A product of Bellville High School, Syptak was a three-year starter for the Owls, earning All WAC honors in 2004 and All C-USA accolades in 2005. He finished his career ranked third in school history with 16 sacks and was named the 2006 winner of the Bob Quin Award as the school's top senior male athlete. He graduated from Rice with a triple major in economics, managerial studies and sports management.
