<>HOUSTON — The Rice football team completed its second scrimmage of spring camp Thursday afternoon.
Two quarterbacks led the offense on five scoring drives, with Tyler Stehling contributing two touchdowns while the rushing attack added a score of its own.
Stehling had two touchdowns, a 59-yarder to Darrion Pollard and an 11-yard strike to Trevor Long. J.T. Granato led the offense on its only other touchdown drive that culminated in an Austin Walter eight-yard rushing touchdown.
Hayden Tobola (32 yards and 39 yards) converted on a pair of field goal attempts.
“I think it was a typical spring scrimmage,” said Rice Co-Offensive Coordinator Billy Lynch. “There was some really good, some bad and then there was some ugly. What you’re trying to do is obviously keep moving forward where there’s more good than bad. We saw some really good things out of some young guys. Some of our older guys continued to have a good spring. We struggled at times with some looks that they were seeing for the first time. Overall, it was an okay day. But certainly one where there were enough positives and correctable moments.”
The team will return to the practice field on Monday.
