Fan Information for the Rice Football Spring Game

The Rice Athletic department is pleased to release important fan information for the 2015 Spring Football game. The annual Owls Spring Game will be played at Rice Stadium at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 10. Admission is free to see your Owls continue preparation for the 2015 season in which they look to set new records and make history.

Parking
Parking lots open at 5:30 p.m. Start off the evening with tailgating in the parking lots and recall the fun and festivities of Saturdays in the fall. Parking is free for all fans. Fans are encouraged to park in West Lot 4 and the Greenbriar Parking lots.

Stadium and Seating
Gates to Rice Stadium will open at 6:00 p.m. Check out the view from your 2015 season ticket location and visit the Fan Services tent to take advantage of the chance to win great prizes. Gates 1 and 4 will be open for fan entry. Seating will only be available on the west, lower level side of Rice Stadium. The east stands and both upper decks will be closed.

Social Media Contest
Starting March 30, Rice athletics will launch a Social Media #OwlsDanceOff campaign for all fans to take part in via their social media outlets. Fans can submit their 15 second dance video via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #OwlsDanceOff. The top two contenders will be selected to take part in a dance off contest, live during half-time of the Spring Game.

Additionally at the stadium on game day, fans will be able to take part in the Owls Social Media Picture Scavenger Hunt. Visit the Fan Services Kiosk to check in for the scavenger hunt starting at 6:15 p.m. All fans completing the scavenger hunt will be entered to win great prizes from Rice Athletics and local vendors.

Special Activities
Before the spring game, Owl fans of all ages are invited to partake in several special activities on the West Concourse. Younger Owl fans can enjoy a football obstacle course as well as the Kids Zone featuring interactive inflatables, games and a photo booth with the Hawai'i Bowl trophy. All fans can be part of the improvements at Rice Stadium with the Brian Patterson Sports Performance Center by taking their hard hat photo at the construction photo booth located in Section 107. Concessions including food, beverages and beer will be available on the west concourse, starting at 6:00 p.m. Finally, Rice Athletics Ticket Office representatives will be on-site to answer any questions and help fans seeking new season tickets take part in the "Select a Seat" program, where open seats will be tagged for fans to view and purchase.


 

 

Spring Game
This year's spring game will consist of four 10 to 12 minute quarters. The game will feature a running clock in the first half. Coach Bailiff and the football staff will again welcome several key guest coaches to run the offense and defense in the first half of the spring game. The 2015 guest coaches are Jeff Van Gundy, Johnny Carrabba, Frankie Mandola, Mike Rhoades, Julie Griswold and a few additional individuals to be named. The football team also welcomes back several Rice alumni and former Coaches Ken Hatfield, Fred Goldsmith and Les Koenning.

At halftime, the crowd will have the chance to hear from Coach Bailiff.

Postgame
Following the spring game, there will be an autograph session featuring select Owls football players on the concourse.
