2016 Spring Game Features New Fan Experience Options

Rice Football fans have a chance to join in the fun as the Owls wrap up their spring drills with the annual Blue-Gray Game by registering for one of several Spring Game Experience options.

When the Owls take to the Rice Stadium turf on Friday, April 8, several of their fans will be a part of the action by winning one of the following assignments:

  • Interview Guest Coaches before the game
  • Kick an Extra Point during the spring game when the Owls score
  • Be the honorary Owls Football PA announcer for one quarter of the game
  • Shoot the official Football t-shirt gun during the game
  • Interview your favorite Owls Players after the game

Interested fans can register in advance online for the chance to participate in the any of the In-Game Experiences. Rice students and members of the Rice Kids Club will also be eligible to be selected. At the same time, Rice Kids Club members will have the chance to compete at half-time of the Spring Game for the chance to lead the Owls onto the field at the home opener versus national ranked Baylor on September 17th.

Prior to the spring game, Owl fans of all ages are invited to partake in several special activities on the West Concourse. Younger Owl fans can enjoy a football obstacle course as well as the Kids Zone featuring interactive inflatables, games and sign making.

All fans will have the chance to capture a special Rice Stadium souvenir by taking a hard hat photo with the new Brian Patterson Sports Performance Center in the background at the construction photo booth located in Section 107.

Rice Students can enjoy a tailgate prior to the game as well as a chance to win a trip on the team charter as the Owls open the 2016 season at Western Kentucky.

Concessions including food, beverages and beer will be available on the west concourse, starting at 7:00 p.m. Finally, Rice Athletics Ticket Office representatives will be on-site to answer any questions and help fans seeking new season tickets take part in the “Select a Seat” program, where open seats will be tagged for fans to view and purchase.



Kickoff for the 2016 Blue-Gray game is set for 8 p.m. and admission is free of charge. Parking lots will open at 5:00 p.m. in conjunction with the Rice Baseball game. Parking is free for all fans in the Greenbriar Lot. Parking in West Lot 4 is also available for $5.00.

Gates to Rice Stadium will open at 7:00 p.m. Gates 1 and 4 will be open for fan entry. Seating will only be available on the west, lower level side of Rice Stadium. The east stands and both upper decks will be closed. Fans will be able to check out the view from their 2016 season ticket location and visit the Fan Services tent to take advantage of the chance to win great prizes.

Head coach David Bailiff will address the crowd at halftime and selected players will be available for a postgame autograph session.
