Rice head football coach Mike Bloomgren has added a 24th player to his initial recruiting class with the signing of running back Antonio LION Faaeteete from Oakland, California to a National Letter of Intent.
Faeteete (6-0, 205) was the Co-MVP of the Oakland Athletic League and named to the San Francisco Chronicle's All-Metro Team in 2017 after breaking Marshawn Lynch's OAL single-season rushing record with 2,626 yards in 11 games and scoring 36 touchdowns. He is the Owls' first football scholarship signee from California since wide receiver Cabot Denny (Palos Verdes Estate) in 1998.
With the addition of a signee from California, the Owls 2018 recruiting class comprises high school signees from seven states in addition to adding graduate transfer Shawn Stankavage, who prepped in North Carolina before playing collegiately at Vanderbilt.
Bloomgren and his coaching staff will hit the practice field for the first time with the current group of Owls on March 5 when the Owls commence spring drills.
