Chris Boswell's came up just short on his final kick and finished second in the TD Ameritrade Quick Kick Competition at the 2014 Quicken Loans All Star Challenge which aired on ESPN 2 on Tuesday night.
Boswell finished with 16 points, second behind Tulane's Cairo Santos who won the event with 20 points. Anthony Ferra of Texas, the 2013 Groza Award winner, finished third with 14 points.
The competition consisted of a series of seven field goals to be attempted in 60 seconds, with two kicks each from 40 (3 points), 45 (4 points) and 50 yards (five points) followed by one final kick from 53 that was worth six points. . Kicking second after Santos, Boswell nailed his second 50-yard kick to pull within four of Santos, but saw his 53 yard attempt fall just short.
The 16th annual event showcased 16 college football standouts competing in an exciting and entertaining skills challenge, which will re-air on ESPN2 at 2 p.m. ET on Feb. 2, as well as on ESPN at 4 p.m. ET on April 27. The ESPN broadcast team included Joe Tessitore, Todd McShay, Mark May, Chris Spielman, Raul Allegre and Kaylee Hartung.
