Owls Announce 2012 Football Schedule

The Rice Owls will kick off their second century of college football on September 1 when they host the UCLA Bruins at Rice Stadium, and will open their 2012 Conference USA schedule three weeks later when they host Marshall. Conference USA released its official 2012 schedule of games on Thursday.

The Owls will open the year with three games non-conference games, opening with UCLA and then traveling to Kansas (September 8) and Louisiana Tech (September 15) before returning home to host Marshall on September 22. The following week, Rice and Houston will take their annual battle for the Bayou Bucket presented by State Farm to Reliant Stadium.

Rice opens C-USA road play with a trip to Memphis on October 6 and then return home to wrap up non-conference play with a home date with UTSA. The matchup with the Roadrunners will be the official culmination of the year-long Rice Centennial Celebration, which will also encompass all the traditional festivities of Homecoming Weekend.

After a road game at Tulsa on Oct. 20, Rice returns home to host Southern Miss on October. 27. The Owls will open November with a trip to New Orleans to face Tulane on Nov. 3 and then return home for a bye week before wrapping up the home schedule with a Senior Day showdown with SMU on November 17.

The 2012 regular season wraps up with a game at UTEP on November 24.

Dates are subject to change and game times for all Rice home games in 2012 are pending final selections by Conference USA's television partners and will be released at a later date.
