HOUSTON, Texas -- Rice committed three costly turnovers as the Owls fell, 38-3, at Houston in the return of the Bayou Bucket.

After the teams traded punts to open the game, Houston drove down the field in eight plays for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead.

On the first play of Rice's next possession, Samuel Stewart fumbled the handoff and UH recovered. Rice held for a field goal, but on the first play of Rice's next possession, Glaesmann's pass was tipped at the line and intercepted. Three plays later, Houston scored to increase its lead to 17-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The Owls couldn't get anything going in the second quarter, as they were held to just 70 yards at the half as Houston took a 38-0 lead into the break.

Rice, behind Jackson Tyner, came out in the second half and began to move the ball down the field before getting on the board in the fourth quarter on Will Harrison's 31-yard field goal.
