AUSTIN--Samuel Stewart's career day was not enough, as Rice fell to Texas, 42-28, Saturday night in Austin.
Stewart rushed 25 times for 130 yards. It was his first career 100-yard rushing game. Stewart came in to the game with just one career rush.
Texas scored the first 21 points of the game. However, Rice came back with two touchdowns in the second quarter to trail by just seven points at halftime.
But, Texas three third quarter touchdowns, including a 69-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the half, to put the game out of reach.
Rice returns to the field next Saturday when it opens Conference USA play at North Texas. Game time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
