Ryan Tedford is entering his second year with the Owls as their Strength & Conditioning Coach.
Tedford came to Rice in the summer of 2016 after spending the last four years at the University of Virginia, including the last two as the Cavaliers Director of Football Training and Player Development.
A four-year letterman in football at Sam Houston State in Huntsville, Tedford graduated from the school in 1995 and began his career as a graduate assistant at Texas from 1995-97, earning his master's degree in kinesiology in 1998. While in Austin, he also served an internship with the NFL's Los Angeles Rams.
He directed strength and conditioning efforts for all 16 sports at Kent State from 1996-2006 and then returned home in 2006, serving as the head strength and conditioning coach at McKinney (TX) North High School.
Tedford returned to the collegiate ranks in 2011 when he joined the Virginia football strength and conditioning staff and was promoted to Director in 2014.
He is a certified member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a sports performance coach certified through USA Weightlifting.
