Rice -- Moved into a starting spot at guard, replacing three-year starter Robbie Heos, after a solid spring campaign.

2008: Made his 15th career start and ninth at guard vs. Houston... Started six games last year at center after Austin Wilkinson was sidelined with mono... Candidate for CoSIDA District VI academic honors with a 3.41 GPA in Economics and Managerial Studies.

2007-- Saw action in all 12 games, six in a reserve role, before taking over as the starter at center after Austin Wilkinson was lost for the year because of illness... Made his starting debut at center on the road at Marshall, his first time handling snaps since his freshman year of high school... Remained at center for the final five games of the year.... Member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.

2006: Honed his skills by playing in all 13 games this year at right guard and on special teams.... Member of the Student Owl Club...Active in the Rice chapter of FCA including developing their web site.

2005: Played in all 11 games as a reserve to earn his first letter.

High School -- 2005 graduate of Stephen F. Austin High in suburban southwest Houston... All-District 20-5A... Named all-area by the Fort Bend Herald-Coaster... Named the Bulldogs' lineman of the year... Team captain... Credited with 61 pancake blocks as a senior and 113 for his career... Also a four-year starter for the Bulldogs in hockey, leading his team to the city playoffs all four years... Scored 20 goals and had 15 assists as a senior... Second-team academic all-state, also winning academic all-district honors... Graduated in the top six percent of his class... Member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes... Also recruited by Western Michigan, Harvard, and TCU.
