Won the starting job after a strong spring and solid fall camp, the endured injuries during the middle of the season before bouncing back with a pair of solid performances in the final two games. Made an impressive return to action against ECU, establishing career-bests by hitting on 11 of 15 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns while rushing 13 times for 93 yards and one touchdown... Connected with Sam McGuffie on a 64-yard scoring pass, the longest scoring toss for the Owls this year... Became the first freshman at Rice to make his college debut as the starting quarterback since Jeremy Hurd against Houston in 2000 when he led the Owls onto the field against Texas... Led the Owls on a 16-play drive in his first series, ending in a field goal to give the Owls a 3-0 lead... Threw a 47-yard TD pass to Randy Kitchens for his first career scoring toss... Connected with Sam McGuffie on a 51-yard TD pass on the game's first play at North Texas... Missed two full games due to an injury sustained against North Texas...
