Rice rallied from a 21-0 deficit to defeat Charlotte 22-21 on November 12.



Rice hosted FAU at Rice Stadium on November 5.


Rice - Southern Miss

Rice faced Southern Miss in Hattiesburg on October 1.

Two-time co-captain who closed out a standout career with 38 consecutive starts at linebacker and 271 career tackles... Honorable mention All-Conference USA as a senior...Three-time C-USA Honor Roll member.

Finished 2016 with a career-best 91 tackles and combined with Emmanuel Ellerbee for 209 tackles the most for a duo at Rice since Izzo (122) and Jay Lamy (97) combined f or 219 in 1995... Recorded his third career 10 tackle game at Army... Two of his three 10 tackle efforts came against Army.... Consensus preseason All C-USA choice and preseason All-Texas College by Dave Campbell's Texas Football

Team leader with 77 tackles... Tied his career-high with 10 tackles vs. Army, including three consecutive stops to force Army into a game-tying field goal with 2:13 left... In the Owls' last two wins--after the Owls took late leads--Lyons had tackles on five of 12 opponent snaps and also had a PBU... Led Owls with nine tackles at FAU, three in the fourth quarter including the clinching sack on 4th down with less than a minute to go... Preseason All C-USA choice by Phil Steele and on the Rotary Lombardi Award Watch list.

Led the team with 71 tackles as a sophomore... Credited with a career-high 10 stops at Marshall... Closed out season by setting career-high with eight solo stops vs. Fresno State in the Hawai'i Bowl... Tied with Graysen Schantz for the lead among returning players with three sacks last year... Recovered a muffed punt vs. UTEP to set up the Owls final score... Credited with a career-best 10 tackles at Marshall... Had sacks in back-to-back games vs. Hawai'i and Army.

Chipped in solid minutes at linebacker as a freshman... Made his first start at UTSA... Scored the Owls' second defensive touchdown in three games by returning a blocked field goal for 62 yards and a TD vs. Houston... Also shared his first career TFL vs. Houston... Made his debut with 5 tackles at Texas A&M.

Redshirted after having surgery during training camp... Was one of five winners of the 2012 NFF National High School Scholar-Athlete Award for his academic achievement in high school and attended the 2012 NFF Awards Banquet in New York to receive his award.
