One of eight true freshmen who played for the Owls this year... Earned All C-USA Freshmen honors as a running back... Rushed for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns and completed his only pass for a 38 yard touchdown... Made his debut vs. Kansas on special teams and the expanded his role two weeks later by returning five kickoffs for 128 yards, with a long of 40.... Became a featured back in the Owl formation and completed a 38-yard scoring pass to Donte Moore against UTSA while also rushing four times for 18 yards in the win... Called on for a larger role the following week vs. Tulsa and rushed for 102 yards on 15 carries in the second half... Ran for a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns that proved to be the difference vs. Tulane... Father, Matt Turner, was the Offensive Coordinator at Gilmer HS, who reached the Texas 3A Championship game.

Co-MVP, and All-District 16-3A selection for coach Jeff Traylor at Gilmer HS ... Joins his Gilmer teammate Darion Pollard as an Owl signee... Gilmer was 43-7 in Turner's four seasons, including a state title in 2009... Passed for 3,972 yards and 40 touchdowns and ran for 1,896 yards and 40 more scores in his career... All-district shortstop in baseball... National Honor Society ... Academic All-State second team... Ranks in the top 10% of his senior class.
