Rice -- Handled the Owls punting and kickoff chores in 2007.
Averaged 39.1 yards per punt on 67 kicks.... Saw 22 of his punts downed inside the 20, more than doubling the Owls total from 2006... boomed a career-long, 74-yarder at Houston... Led the team and was the unofficial national leader among kickers with 14 special teams tackles.
2006: Handled the Owls kickoff duties as well as the longer field goals... Converted four of seven field goals in 2006, all from beyond 40 yards... Booted a pair from 45 yards, one from 44 and one from 42 yards out... Handled the bulk of the kickoff chores for the Owls, kicking off 55 times this season... Was twice credited with tackles on special teams... Forced a fumble with his tackle on the opening kickoff against SMU which the Owls recovered... Successfully executed an onside kick to open the game against UCF and set up a field goal... Member of the Student Owl Club.
2005: Averaged 60.6 yards on 43 kickoffs... Spent most of the season as the backup to Brennan Landry on field goals and extra points... Made two of three FG attempts, including a 53-yard boot against Navy, equaling the fourth-longest in Rice history... Joined James Hamrick and Joel Baxter as the only Owls to have at least one field goal of at least 53 yards... Made his only PAT attempt of the year against Houston in the season finale.
2004: Split time with Landry and was Rice's fourth-leading scorer with 16 points... Made four of five PATs and four of seven field goals... His longest FG was a 36-yarder at Tulsa... Made all three of his three-point attempts against the Hurricane... Also had a 32-yard FG at UTEP... Only punt of the season was a pooch kick for 25 yards that pinned Navy inside its 20-yard line.
High School -- 2004 graduate of Strake Jesuit College Preparatory School in southwest Houston... First-team selection on the all-Greater Houston team for coach Ron Counter... Led the Houston area in kick-scoring with 79 points as a senior... Made 23 field goals during his junior and senior campaigns... Ranked as the number-18 kicker in the country by Rivals.com... Made 15 of 18 field-goal attempts as a senior and 23 of 31 for his career... A perfect 36/36 in conversions in `03 and 69/72 in his career... Had a 42.0-yard punting average as a senior and a 41.8 norm overall... Helped the Crusaders to a 28-3 record over his schoolboy career... The Crusaders' starting strong safety and was the defensive MVP in the 2003 Jesuit Bowl... Named one of the top 12 underclassmen in the first annual National Kicking Competition in '03... Also competed in soccer and track for the Crusaders... Honor roll student at Jesuit with a 3.2 GPA in AP classes.
