2006: Switched to defensive back after starting his career at running back... Opened the year in a reserve role and broke up a pass against Houston... Started against Army and Tulane when Brandon King was injured... Top tackle effort was a career-best five stops against the Green Wave... Also made three stops against Army.
2005: Played in eight games as a resrve defensive back to earn his first letter... Had one primary tackle on the season in the season opener at UCLA.
2004: Played in eight games (no starts) but did not letter... Gained 11 yards on four carries on the season, all coming in the win over SMU... Had a long-gain of nine yards against the Mustangs.
Other Rice Athletics: Competed for the Owls in the sprints during the 2006 outdoor track season...Had best times of 11.20 in the 100 meters and 22.26 in the 200 meters, and ran a leg on the Owls' best 4x100-meter relay team (41.58).
High School -- 2003 graduate of Sinton High near Corpus Christi... Two-time all-District 30-3A running back for coach Jimmy Mitchell... Won all-south Texas honors in leading the Pirates to the Class 3A playoffs with a 12-1 record... Gained 1,437 all-purpose yards and scored 21 touchdowns, averaging 9.7 yards per carry on the ground... The Pirates' offensive MVP in seven of 13 games in '02... Also helped Sinton to the 3A state finals and a 14-1 record in 2001... Led Sinton to district track titles as a sophomore and junior, holding the Pirates' school records in the triple jump, 400-meters and as a member of both relay squads... Academic honors and activities include two-year membership of the honor roll, and Who's Who, Academic Athlete and Youth Leadership awards.
