Former Rice defensive tackle Cameron Thompson returned to South Main in the spring of 2016 as a defensive graduate assistant. He joins the coaching ranks after working in private business since his graduation from Rice in 2011.
Thompson earned a pair of letters for the Owls before an injury cut short his career. He earned immediate playing time as a true freshman in 2007 and was credited with 10 tackles. He made a strong debut in 2008 with three tackles against SMU in the opener, but only played in two additional games before he was injured.
He graduated from Rice in 2011 with a degree in Sport Management. He worked in the Oil & Gas industry for five years, including the last three as Vice President, Marketing & EDU Sales for PetroEd before deciding to return to football.
Thompson is single and lives in Houston.
