Late Spurt Gives Men's Basketball 80-68 Victory over UTSA
Rice closed the game on a 15-3 run over the final 4:24 to defeat UTSA, 80-68 and earn its fifth straight victory, Thursday night at Tudor Fieldhouse.

Scouting Rice
• Rice is 3-10 on the year and has lost three straight games after falling to Texas State last Friday, 74-66, in its non-conference finale.
• Junior guard Connor Cashaw is 10th in Conference USA in both scoring (16.4) and rebounding (6.8). He is also averaging 2.8 assists and 1.9 three-pointers per game.
• Graduate guard A.J. Lapray is second on the team with 11.1 points and is connecting on 44.4% from beyond the arc.
• Sophomore guard Ako Adams is averaging 8.5 points and 3.2 boards. He also leads the team with 3.4 assists.
• Freshman Malik Osborne is second on the team in rebounding with 5.8 boards.
• The Owls are averaging 66.9 points per game while allowing 75.1.
• Rice is connecting on just 39.5% from the floor and 30.0% from three. Its opponents are shooting just 43.6% from the field and are being held to 31.1% from beyond the arc, which is tops in Conference USA.
• The Owls are also outrebounding their opponents, 38.3-to-37.0.
• Head coach Scott Pera is in his first season leading the Rice men’s basketball program after serving its last three years as its Associate Head Coach.

Scouting UTSA
• UTSA enters its Conference USA schedule with a 7-6 record. The Roadrunners closed non-conference play with a 104-94 defeat at Nebraska.
• Freshman guard Jhivvan Jackson is tied for seventh in Conference USA in scoring with 17.0 points. He is also sixth in three-pointers made (2.6) and ninth in free throw percentage (.847).
• Freshman guard Keaton Wallace is second on the team with 14.6 points and is third in the league with 2.7 three-pointers made per game.
• Junior forward Nick Allen is scoring 9.7 points per game. He is also second in C-USA in three-point field goal percentage (.533) and ninth in field goal percentage (.528).
• Sophomore forward Byron Frohnen is sixth in the conference in rebounding (7.2) and sophomore guard Giovanni De Nicolao is tied for fourth in steals (1.9) and 10th in assists (3.7).
• UTSA is second in Conference USA in scoring, averaging 87.2 points per game while allowing 78.2.
• The Roadrunners are connecting on 44.8% from the field while also hitting on 37.5% from three. Their opponents are connecting on 41.4% from the floor and 35.9% from beyond the arc.
• UTSA leads the league in rebounding, pulling down 40.5 rebounds per game while allowing 39.6.
• The Roadrunners also lead the league in three-pointers made per game (11.1).
• Head coach Steve Henson is in his second season at the helm of the UTSA men’s basketball program, where he holds a 21-25 (.457) record.

Series History
• Rice and UTSA will meet for the 12th time in school history.
• Rice trails the series 6-5 overall but has won three of the last four meetings.
